Tour Dates, Video: Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson

|

Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson just posted some tour dates which include a stop in Los Angeles at the Echo. No Texas dates unfortunately. The closest he comes to Texas is when he will be in Denver on May 31st -- in case you want to catch him, Ethan.

He will be opening for fellow Say Hey label-mates White Rabbits. The LA show will be at the Echo on May 28th. Tickets aren't up for sale yet, and I'm trying to figure out when they go up.

And to add to the mystery surrounding this guy, this grainy video is the only thing currently up on youtube -- eerily similar to the Bigfoot video if you ask me...

MP3: Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson -- "The Debtor"

Just a very quick update about my new favorite artist, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson -- or MiBeAnRo as I call him when we're hanging out.

Stereogum just christened him as the latest Artist to Watch -- a distinction that helped to break out bands such as Tape 'n Tapes, Cold War Kids, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, and more recently No Age, HEALTH, and Lykke Li.

As part of the post they put up "The Debtor" which is the track that I was raving about in my last post about MBAR (but didn't post bc I didn't have a copy of it). So now that I have an MP3 copy I wanted to share it, because thats how much I care about you.

Okay, this is it. We have reached indie-DEFCON 3.

If you've never gotten behind anything I've posted on this blog then now is the time. The song I have linked below is wtf-awesome. And then I went to Miles Benjamin Anthony's myspace page and listened to the song "The Debtor" and immediately tears were in my eyes. The last time that happened I was driving home from Oceanside/San Diego after visiting Jenn for the July 4th weekend. I had popped in the copy of TV on the Radio's Return to Cookie Mountain which I had just bought that day at a cool little record shop near the beach. That was July of 2006. It's been almost two years since I have been so immediately drawn to a song as I am to this.

I was initially going to wait until Monday to post this, but I am just way too excited about this guy. Apparently he's a 24-year old kid who's been living in Brooklyn for a while -- just hanging out playing shows. He recorded an album with Chris Taylor and Chris Bear of Grizzly Bear in 2006 (which includes guest appearances by Kyp Malone from TV on the Radio, no less). I guess the albums been on the shelf for a while because its not slated to be released until July 1st. Listen to the song I linked below and then immediately go to the aforementioned myspace page and listen to "The Debtor". I have a feeling this guy is going to blow up.

Edit: In fact, this guy is a little too good. I'm starting to think this might just be an April Fools Day joke or something. His back-story is a little too perfect... Hmmmm
