MP3: The Dodos - Red and Purple.mp3 (Visiter)

This dynamic duo from San Francisco newly signed on to the label Frenchkiss and is set to release their second upcoming album Visiter on March 18. The band was originally a solo act of guitar player Meric Long, called Dodobird. He joined forces with drummer Logan Kroeber and thus developed into The Dodos.
If their new album follows the energy of the released tracks, "Fools" and "Jodi", it is promising to be more aggressive then their first, Beware of the Maniacs. One song in particular on that album called "Chickens" had a Devendra Banhart aroma. Previously watching guitarist Long's fingers fly made me remember the long lost guitar idols of the '70s, the guys who could actually play their instruments. When I saw them at the Proletariat In Houston, Long had also pleaded for someone in the audience to let them crash on their couch for the night. So if listening to these couple of songs doesn't make you want to buy their new album, at least do it to contribute to their touring hotel fund.
