Video: Caribou live in Chicago (Pitchfork.tv)

After the Islands show Tuesday night, Travis, Evan, and I all agreed that the dudes in the band kind of seemed like dicks.

There was without a doubt a pretension of rock-stardom that we all felt and were all pretty turned-off by. Ashley was not having it and said she had no idea what we were talking about. I then proceeded to make a (typically) half-baked argument about authenticity in live music and made a terrible analogy to how Kurt Cobain could wear those white Kayne West glasses on stage and not look like he was 'trying to be ironic'. I wish I could say that I was drunk, but I was totally serious.

Anyways, what I was trying to get at is that music fans have a very acute bullshit detector. Take Dan Snaith of Caribou for example. It's not that he seems humble -- although humility is an attractive quality in a rock band. It's just that he seems -- I don't know -- real?

I'm still not sure what my point is or how to make it. The bottom line is this: Caribou owns.
