The first released single "5 Years Time" from Noah and the Whale's premiere album Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down (August 4, 2008) is the elated ballad of the summer (you might have noticed it on the Saturn Aura commercial).  The single could follow in the path of Feist's "1234," that catapulted her career after her Apple commercial making her a household name or at least a song the family can sing-a-long to.

The name of the band is a combo of one of the band's favorite films, "The Squid and the Whale" and the name of the director, Noah Baumbach.  The group's bud, Laura Marling, sings along in the chorus and accompanies singer Charlie Fink on many of Noah and the Whale's songs.  I guess it was a deserving favor for Noah and the Whale because Fink produced Laura Marling's Alas, I Cannot Swim (February 11, 2008) that made it on the shortlist for this year's Mercury Music Prize.  Noah and the Whale have blessed the geeky web world with appearances on La Blogotheque and Black Cab Sessions.  These boys sure know how to hype up a debut.  They have made smart choices already gaining a name for themselves, possibly foretelling a nice little indie-popular career.

I Very much realize what your stance in this subject is. Though I may disagree on some of the finer aspects, I feel you did an awesome job outlining it. For sure beats trying to study it on my own. Many thanks.
